Outside the Office
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jim worked in the construction industry, real estate sale and development, and the timber industry. Jim grew up on his family’s livestock ranch near Eugene, Oregon, where they raised pure bred cattle and champion cutting horses. While at the University of Oregon, Jim played football his freshman year.
In his free time, Jim participates in a wide range of outdoor activities including mountaineering, hiking, and traditional archery. On any given weekend Jim can usually be found hiking in the Cascade mountains with his friends. In fact, Jim has summited Mt. Rainier and the other four Washington volcanos with his sons and some of his closest friends. In fact, on July 1, 2023, he and his two sons summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and three children on the family farm where they raise horses, goats, chickens, turkeys and Italian honeybees, and a few dogs and cats running about.
